Privacy
Academic OS is a small, invite-only pilot run by its organiser. Questions or requests: tjake2473@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and email from Google sign-in. We never see your Google password.
- Your syllabi: the PDFs you upload, and what is extracted from them: course names, assignments and exams, due dates, weights, and your own edits and "done" marks.
- Settings: your time zone, and whether you get the daily email and when.
- Google Calendar (optional): if you connect it, we keep an encrypted permission token and add deadlines to a separate "Academic OS" calendar the app creates. We can't see or change your other calendars.
- A parent link (optional): if you invite a parent, we record that link. You see their name and email.
- Basic technical logs (such as IP address and pages visited), kept briefly by our hosting provider. We use no ads, analytics or tracking pixels.
If you are a parent: we keep your name and email from Google sign-in, and which student you follow.
How long we keep it
Uploaded PDFs are deleted from our storage automatically 7 days after a successful extraction (30 days if extraction failed). The extracted courses and dates stay until you delete the course or ask us to delete your account.
What a parent can see
Only if you invite one. They see an overview, not your plan: how many dated items are due in each of the next 4 weeks, and your exams, projects and presentations in the next 3 weeks (title, course, date, weight, and whether the date is an estimate). They can't see what is done or not done, past-due items, items without a date, descriptions, your uploads, your email, or how often you use the app. They see dates as they are now, so if you change one, they see the change. You can remove a parent at any time and their access ends immediately.
Your choices
Delete a course in Timeline. Turn off the daily email in Settings (every email also has an unsubscribe link). Disconnect Calendar in Settings. Remove a parent in Settings. Or email tjake2473@gmail.com to have your whole account and data deleted.
Under 18
Students under 18 take part only with a parent or guardian's OK.
We'll update this page if anything changes.
